We are currently seeking a collaborative, results oriented professional to join our Import department in the Houston office as an Import Supervisor. At TLR we believe in doing anything to become the most loved and trusted provider of international services and finding team members that will help foster that vision is paramount to our success.

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Promoting a positive relationship with TLR’s clients, other team members, and vendors by ensuring accurate, timely and proactive customer service.
  • Nurturing the TLR-Client relationship by educating and assisting to define their needs.

 

  • Engaging in proactive cross-training in order to ensure seamless customer service on all accounts in the department.
  • Processing shipments through TLR’s operating system, including but not limited to opening files, requesting documents, updating shipment information, ensuring timely ISF, customs clearance, billing, and submitting shipment information to various agencies/departments as required.
  • Targeting and implementing process improvements including updating client profiles, S.O.P.’s and other department resources.
  • Liaising with overseas agents and US carriers including steamship lines, airlines, warehouses and trucking companies to facilitate freight movement.
  • Maintaining and updating client and department shipment reports.
     

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 5-7 years of professional experience with emphasis on international logistics, specifically the Import of international cargo through various modes.
  • 5-7 years of Customs Brokerage experience
  • Customs Brokerage License Preferred
  • Experience / Knowledge of Oil and Gas and Chemical Commodities
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with external and internal customers to gather information and coordinate projects and/or shipments to satisfy the client’s needs.
  • Experience with Customs interfacing management systems-CargoWise preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ACE business processes, workflow management, CBP and PGA message set requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of global freight forwarding or import and/or related industry such as distribution, supply chain logistics.
  • Experience with Energy Sector related shipments a plus.
  • Experience with Maritime Spares Logistics a plus.
  • Experience with Chemicals a plus.
  • Strong math, verbal, written and customer service skills and ability to organize, prioritize and execute against established KPIs
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or related field desired.
  • HazMat certifications (IATA, IMDG and DOT) a plus
  • Applied knowledge of Incoterms
